BOME s. r. o. was founded in 1992. The company is registered at Commercial Register maintained by the Regional Court in České Budějovice, Section C, Insert 1871.

The beginning of operations is connected with the processing of impure mercury. The main uses of highly pure mercury were in polarography, in the manufacture of thermometers, medical pressure gauges, manometers and mercury compounds. The main civil use was as dental amalgam, the main industrial use was amalgam electrolysis in the production of hydroxides and chlorine. Our company gradually developed into the largest mercury producer and supplier in the Czech Republic.


For the transport and disposal of mercury from amalgam electrolysis manufactures we have created tanks which passed the falling and pressure tests (falls with 1000 kg of mercury on different sides of tank from the height of 80 cm to a fixed surface).


Mercury, as the only metal liquid under normal conditions, is cleaned by vacuum distillation after the mechanical impurities have been separated. The output is mercury with a purity of at least 99.9995%, which is verified by regular chemical analysis of impurities. 


During its history, BOME s. r. o. took most of the mercury waste that had become a waste in the Czech Republic and Slovakia when it was replaced by more environmentally friendly ways. This was mainly mercury from industrial pressure gauges in the heating industry, mercury from the production of pressure gauges or thermometers, mercury obtained by processing of light sources (fluorescent lamps) or batteries, mercury from chemical laboratories, etc. The suppliers of small quantities of mercury are also well-known waste companies, sometimes even firefighters or the Police of the Czech Republic. Approximately 130 tons of mercury have already been processed from these small sources, in order to put it under control, so it would no longer be threat to the environment. As part of our corporate social responsibility, we buy mercury to increase the motivation of its sources to sell it to us.
